EMPOWERED BY
HOLISTIC RECOVERY BALI
Bali Bersama Bisa grew out of a simple belief we share with Holistic Recovery Bali: everyone deserves a chance to recover, whatever their background and whatever they can afford. HRB helped us start this programme, trained our team, and still walks alongside us today. Our name says it all: Bali Bersama Bisa, together we can.

Where it began
Holistic Recovery Bali is a private rehab and mental health centre in Denpasar. Over the years, their team kept meeting local families who were struggling with addiction and didn’t know where to turn. Private treatment was out of reach for most, and very little support was available in Bahasa Indonesia.
Nev Doidge, HRB’s Program Director, and Wayan Eka, who most of us know as BimBim, wanted to change that. In 2020 they helped set up Bali Bersama Bisa, an outpatient programme run by Indonesians for our own community.
Training our team
Every counsellor here
was trained by HRB
We learn the same approaches HRB uses in its private rehab programmes. But the training goes beyond techniques. HRB taught us to meet people without judgement, to listen properly, and to treat everyone who walks through our door with dignity. Many of us have our own stories of addiction and recovery, and we bring that understanding to every conversation.
CBT
Cognitive behavioural therapy, taught by HRB’s clinical team.
Working with trauma
What sits underneath, handled with care.

Relapse prevention
Recognising the pattern before it takes hold again.
Suicide Risk
What sits underneath, handled with care.
Love and Compassion First
The people we support often come to us at the lowest point in their lives. Some have been turned away elsewhere. Some have never told anyone what they’re going through. What they need first isn’t a treatment plan. It’s someone who cares.
That’s the heart of our work. We offer support in our own language, with people who understand Balinese family life, and with patience for however long recovery takes. When someone needs more intensive care, HRB is there to help.

Breaking the Shame
In Bali, as in much of Indonesia, mental illness and addiction are still things many families don’t talk about. People hide what they’re going through because they’re afraid of being judged, or of bringing shame on their family. Too often, by the time someone asks for help, they’ve been suffering alone for years.
We want to change that. Every time someone walks through our door, shares their story, or brings a family member along, the silence gets a little easier to break. Our team speaks openly about our own recovery, because we know that seeing someone who has been there is often what gives people the courage to start.
Struggling with your mental health is not a weakness, and asking for help is nothing to be ashamed of. Nobody should have to face it alone. Together, we can.
Healing Together
One of the most special parts of our partnership is that HRB clients can get involved with Bali Bersama Bisa too, when they feel ready.
What HRB clients find
Many arrive feeling isolated and ashamed. Spending time with our community reminds them that they are not alone, and that their own experience can help someone else. Giving back is a powerful part of recovery.
What our members find
Our members meet people from around the world who are on the same journey. Our community feels seen and supported, and the room gets a little wider every time.
“Recovery happens in community. Some of the most powerful moments I’ve seen are when our clients sit with the BBB family and realise they have something to give. Everyone heals a little more when we look after each other.”
